Influence of hardening conditions on structure and properties of Al-Mg system alloys

Description

Aimed to design a high-strength (380-400 H/mm2) Al-Mg alloy capable to operate at temperatures up to 1000 deg C a comparative investigation was carried out for commercial alloy AL27-1 and experimental alloy on Al-16 % Mg base with Zn, Mn, Sb, Zr additions. The experimental alloy produced by standard sand casting technology, water cooled from homogenizing temperature of 435 deg C and aged at 90 deg C for 40 h has ultimate strength of 410 N/mm2 and relative elongation of 14 %. These properties do not vary with time during natural aging
