Study on the spin dependence of fissibility in experiments of fission of the 235U oriented nuclei by fast neutrons

Description
Making use of an improved technique, 235U fission by 50-900 keV neutrons aiming to measure the nuclear target orientation effects in the total cross section and in quadrupole and hexadecapole components of angular distribution of fragments has been studied. Analyzing these data and making use of the previous results the fissionability dependence upon the quantum numbers J, K has been found. It is shown that the states with momentum J=I±1/2 (I=7/2 is the spin of the target nucleus) make the main contribution to fission on p neutrons, and at given J the fissionability maximum corresponds to K ∼ J/2
