Hydrogeological study to strengthen drinking water supply of the Papaichton village. Exploration by radon emission measurement and electrical geophysics - Final report

Description

The Papaichton village is located on the Maroni river in the French Guiana district, and is supplied in drinking water by two drillings which exploit the fractured base, but display a strong productivity decrease whereas the population is strongly increasing. Thus, drinking water supply needs to be increased, and a hydrogeological exploration has therefore been performed. After a presentation of the studied area (general context, geological and hydrogeological context, natural lineament observations with aerial photos, preliminary field investigations), the authors report an exploration by radon emission measurement (principle and methodology, implementation on the studied area, result interpretation), and an exploration by electrical resistivity tomography (logistics and performed works, result interpretation).
