Focusing of hollow conical charged particle beams

Description
Axisymmetric analyzers with hollow conical beams of charged particles are used to increase device sensitivity in energy and mass-spectrometry. Focusing of hollow conical beams using certain types of lenses formed by axisymmetric electrodes is considered. Paraxial equation for trajectories is obtained. Expression for focal distance is obtained in approximation for thin lenses
