Description

Fusarium is a serious fungal infection that is difficult to diagnose and has no fully defined and effective treatment. It often affects immunocompromised patients, such as patients with oncological diseases in the pediatric age group. This study aims to report the case of fusariosis in a 5-year-old female pediatric oncology patient diagnosed with B-type Acute Lymphoid Leukemia who presented with pulmonary -pleural fusariosis with bone involvement. Best management for the treatment of the disease in the pediatric population will be discussed. This is a descriptive observational study, and the sample consists of a single individual, obtained through analysis of the patient's medical record, after approval by the Research Ethics Committee and obtaining the Informed Consent Form. Laboratory and imaging exams will be presented, besides literature review on the theme. (author)
