Some electrical and fabrication properties of virgin and recycled A-150 tissue-equivalent plastic
Description
This study has shown that waste A-150 can be successfully recycled to give acceptable conductivity and interesting fabrication properties, such as spinning into fibres for grid construction. The technique of fibre spinning and grid construction described in this communication is just as applicable to virgin solid or granular material. All procedures carried out during remoulding or microspinning were found to be critically dependent on temperature and temperature control. Mechanical properties of remoulded A-150 such as density and machine finish were found to be no different from virgin A-150 and grids constructed from spun fibres were found to perform successfully (as measured by gas gain and resolution studies) when used for wall-less counter construction.
