Electric power self-consumption: stakes for photovoltaic and other renewable energies

After having recalled some basic notions (definition of self-consumption in the Code of Energy), this note outlines and discusses stakes and opportunities of self-consumption in terms of penetration of renewable energies and of business models, but also in terms of impact on grids and on the steering of the supply/demand balance. It also discusses levers of action for an optimal development of self-consumption, and the differences and benefits of individual or collective self-consumption. It gives an overview of existing support arrangements for self-consumption.
