Tissue distribution and excretion of sulfur 35 after administration of sporidesmin-35S to guinea-pigs

Abstract The tissue distribution and excretion patterns of radioactivity following a single intraperitoneal or oral dose of sporidesmin‐ 35 S were investigated in female guinea‐pigs. After 4 days 16‐18% of the administered radioactivity had been excreted in the urine and 22‐25% had been passed with the faeces, while 7‐12.5% of the administered cpm remained in the lumen of the gastro‐intestinal tract, mainly in the caecum. The highest levels of radioactivity appeared in the liver and kidney, varying lower levels being found in the other tissues. The tissues retained a considerable proportion of their maximum radioactivity levels 4 days after dosing.
