An alarm system for operators
Creators
- 1. Westinghouse Electric Corp., Pittsburgh, PA (USA)
Description
The AWARE system is an innovative alarm system designed for optimum operator performance. AWARE prevents the operator from being overcome by a large number of alarms during a large disturbance, preserves the ability to alert the operator to small disturbances in an otherwise normal plant, and improves the initial stages of operator problem solving and decision making during any off-normal state. The AWARE offers a practical solution to optimizing operator performance through effective alarm system support of operator decision making; addressing the complete 'alarm problem' in an integrated solution. 3 figs
