Description
At present, the United Kingdom Department of the Environment is applying a series of computer models based on the Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL) SYVAC code to assess the radiological impact of the disposal of low-to-intermediate--level waste under conditions appropriate to the UK. As detailed representation of chemistry is not an integral part of these models, output needs to be cross-verified by comparison to coupled geochemical-hydrologic codes. This paper describes a coupled approach involving the chemical transport simulator, CHEMTRN, in conjunction with the mass-transfer program, PHREEQE
