Determination of water content in ammonium-uranyl tri-carbonate

  • 1. Beijing Research Inst. of Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy (China)

Description

A new method for determination of water content in ammonium-uranyl tricarbonate by Karl·Fisher reagent titration is described in this paper. The different parameters for determination of water by Karl·Fisher reagent and in particular the influence of NH4+, UO22+ and carbonate ions were studied. The results show that NH4, UO22+ don't interfere the determination, but the interference of CO32- from other solution carbonates must be corrected by means of independent determination of carbonate in sample solution by acidimetry. This method was certified with different products by a number of laboratories. The precision obtained from intercomparison experiments is better than +- 2%. The method is simple, rapid and easy to use. It has been recommended as a standard method for product analysis of ammonium-uranyl tricarbonate
