Description
The use of the Tri-Carb 1050 TR/LL liquid scintillation spectrometer for the analysis of low tritium concentration in environmental samples is described. Measurement optimization is discussed and the sensitivity and accuracy of counting are demonstrated on the determination of HTO content of various natural water samples. The minimum detectable activity of (1.2 Bq.l-1)0.95 and 1000 minutes' counting time guarantee a reliable assessment of low tritium contamination from the nuclear industry and make this instrument suitable for monitoring and control of water supplies pollution.
