ESCA study of Nb and Ti oxides. Applications to the determination of the nature of the superficial films formed during the oxidation of Nb-Ti and Nb-Ti alloys

Description

A study of different oxides of niobium and titanium is carried out by electron spectrometry ESCA and the chemical shifts are determined, from the metals, for NbO, NbO2, Nb2O5 and TiO, TiO2. Results of the kinetic study of the oxidation of Nb, Ti and three alloys Nb-Ti, under low pressures and at high temperatures are also given. The superficial films of the oxides formed during the reaction are determined by ESCA. Their influence on the kinetics is shown

Abstract (French)

Un etude des differents oxydes de Nb et Ti a ete effectuee par spectrometrie d'electrons ESCA. Les deplacements chimiques ont ete determines a partir du metal pour NbO, NbO2, Nb2O5, TiO et TiO2. On donne egalement les resultats de l'etude de la cinetique d'oxydation de Nb, Ti et 3 alliages Nb-Ti sous basses pressions et a hautes temperatures. On a etudie par ESCA les couches minces d'oxydes formees durant la reaction et on montre leur influence sur la cinetique de reaction
