Studies on succinate dehydrogenase in normal and x-irradiated mice tissues
- 1. Gujarat Univ., Ahmedabad (India). Dept. of Zoology
Description
The effect of X-irradiation on succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) was studied in normal and irradiate tissues of mice at several intervals after irradiation. Amongst the tissues, the normal concentration of SDH was significantly higher in the kidney and adrenal than in muscle and liver. X-irradiation brought about a decrease in the enzyme concentration in kidney and muscle whereas in adrenal it was activated. In liver the enzyme was activated beyond control levels after 72 hr. of X-irradiation. In other tissues there was almost complete recovery by this time. The quantitative alternations in SDH levels are correlated with the oxidative metabolism of these tissues. (author)
