Description
In the present work we discuss two numerical methods for the calculation of 3D spatial dose distributions, and their application in HDR prostate brachytherapy. We include a comparison between the results obtained with the Sievert integral method and the use of tables generated by Monte Carlo simulations of radiation transport in a homogeneous medium for two types of 192Ir encapsulated sources commonly used in Mexican hospitals. The application of both methods to clinical data is also presented
