A dense molecular outflow in Orion B

  • 1. Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory, Cambridge (UK). Cavendish Lab.

Description

HCO+ J=3-2 maps with 60 arcsec resolution of Orion B are presented. A dense (approx.105 cm-3) component has been detected in the Orion B bipolar outflow. Our maps of the cloud core give evidence that the evolution of the outflow has been influenced by the local density gradients in the molecular cloud. A search has also been made for H2S(1) ν=1-0 emission along the outflow axis and an upper limit set. H2 emission was detected 80 arcsec east of the outflow centre. (author)
