Influence of radiation on microcirculation of mouse kidney and its treatment

  • 1. Handzhou Red Cross Hospital, Zhejiang (China)

Description

The changes in microcirculation of kidney were observed in mice irradiated and subsequently treated. After irradiation with 15 Gy of γ-ray, the decrease of renal capillary beds and vessel calibre, increase in number of leukocytes, aggregation of erythrocytes, and appearance of white microthrombi in capillaries were found. These changes disturbed seriously the exchange of substances between the tissues and cells, and sometimes they could lead to the death of mice. By treatment with some drugs, these changes were mitigated and the survival rate of animal was raised. It is suggested that the improvement of renal microcirculation by combined treatment of Chinese traditional medicine and western medicine is an effective way to correct the functional disturbance of kidney and to treat acute radiation sickness
