Adsorption studies of dyes on alumina and silica gels

Description

Adsorption of dyes (Rhodamine B, Acid Red 4, Niel blue Sulphate) on alumina and silica gels was studied as a function of temperature. Spectrophotometry was used as the technique to measure the extent of adsorption. Freundlich and Langmuir adsorption equation were applied from which thermodynamic parameters such as enthalpy, free energy and entropy of adsorption were calculated. Classius-claperyron equation was applied to calculate the iso steric heat of adsorption (q),and interpreted. Sorption mean free energy ( E ) was calculated by using D-R equation and interpreted.
