Description
Modifications of mineral fertilizer encapsulation methods, (using carbamide as an example) by monomer (methyl methacrylate (MMA)) radiation polymerization from vapour-phase are described. To increase coating formation rate prior to polymerization small amounts of aerosils, sulfur, vaseline and silicone oils, paraffines, fluorinated paraffins were applied on fertilizer samples. Radiation vapour-phase graft of the second monomer (styrene, chloroprene, vinylidenechloride (VDC)) in small amounts on a thin primary PMMA layer permits to improve considerably the encapsulating properties of the coatings. The method of radiation vapour-phase encapsulation of fertilizers, based on successive polymerization of MMA and VDC is developed. The required irradiation dose at the dose rate of 0.6-1.0 Gy/s constitutes 0.02-0.3 MGy
