Some aspects in the qualification of local seismicity

Various definitions of the significant duration of a strong ground motion are considered. The response spectra of selected recorded earthquakes are compared with the ones obtained from simulated time histories of different significant duration. The synthetic accelerograms are generated as amplitude modulated stationary stochastic processes for two different analytical formulations of the power spectral density function. (orig.)
