Electronic device for the correction of linearity defects of an Anger type gamma camera

The spatial resolution of Anger type cameras is limited because when the scintillator receives the flux of gamma rays presenting an uniform distribution density, the image obtained has a non-uniform spatial distribution. This defect results in the images coming close to the light source centres, towards the centres of the various photomultipliers. The corrective system is composed of at least one first device for determining the coordinates of the centre of the photomultiplier tube nearest to the light source, a second device for calculating the distance of the light source from the centre of the photomultiplier tube and a third device that corrects the source coordinates as from corrective factors delivered by a memory, these corrective factors only depending in fact on the distance of the source from the tube centre
