As we enter the last decade of the twentieth century, there are significant opportunities for successful and rewarding careers in nuclear and radiochemistry in the national laboratories of the U.S. Department of Energy. The relevant areas range from new basic research opportunities in nuclear science to applied science in such diverse areas as environmental restoration/waste management and nuclear medicine. A survey of these opportunities will be presented with a view toward increasing the awareness of the opportunities for nuclear and radiochemists in government laboratories
