Description

To determine internal radionuclide contamination of animals, the measurements of 5 to 10 ml samples are required. A semiconductor gamma-spectrometry with the Petri dish geometry is used to determine the sample activity. In a close detector-sample geometry, it is necessary to eliminate true coincidence summing which significantly affect the accuracy of measurements. One possibility to solve the problem at Canberra HPGe semiconductor detector with 20 % efficiency, 1.79 keV resolution for 1.33 MeV is to increase a distance between the detector face - Petri dish to 90 mm.
