Diffusion and crystallisation in glasses containing fission-product elements

Description

The diffusion of fission-product elements in waste glass was studied in experiments done with concentration couples. Diffusion coefficients between 10-18 and 10-16 were found for cesium in the 871-917 K temperature range. Crystallisation of this glass was studied after heat treatment at 1100 K. Only crystalline phases of CeO2 and CaMoO4, associated with pre-existing phases of Pd and RuO2, have been found to date. (author). 14 refs.; 2 figs.; 2 tabs
