Mechanism of uptake of radionuclides in tumors
Description
The mechanisms of uptake of gallium and other radionuclides with tumor affinity were reviewed by the author, with special reference to the intracellular localization of 67Ga citrate. The author investigated the intracellular dynamics of Ga as analyzed by isopycnic ratezonal ultracentrifugation of the liver cell of rat, and found that immediately after iv administration, 67Ga is in cell supernatant, bound with substance having 5S. Within 24 hrs, 67Ga moves to fraction of lysosomes and heavy endoplasmic reticulum. The identification of 5S substance and ligand substance in lysosomeendoplasmic fraction is in progress. (author)
