Absolute gamma ray abundances of Re and W isotopes. Pt. 4

Description
The absolute abundances of three 172W and two 172gRe γ-rays have been measured. A new half-life value of 8.03±0.42 minutes is proposed for 172W. The isotopes were produced by the reactions 165Ho(14N,7n)172W and 165Ho(16O,9n)172Re using thin Ho foils. Excitation functions were also measured to help facilitate the assignment of the photons. A helium jet recoil system was used to transport the activity, Ge(Li) spectra of the products were recorded and the growth and decay curves of the daughter isotopes were observed. (orig.)
