Studies on glass scintillators

Description

Quality testing and studies on scintillation phenomena in cerium-doped silicate glasses produced by Messrs. Schott u. Gen. A correlation was found between light yield and phosphorescence. The phenomenon of self-absorption of scintillation light in the glass is an important factor in view of the fact that large slabs of scintillation glass are required as shower detector material. Measurements of the energy resolution of shower detectors of cerium glass were carried out at photon energies between 50 MeV and 85 MeV. (HP)

Abstract (German)

(HP)
