Uranium (4) and uranium (6) interaction with antipyrine and diantipyrylmethane

  • 1. AN SSSR, Moscow. Inst. Obshchej i Neorganicheskoj Khimii

Description

Synthesized are complexes of halogenides of uranium (4) and uranyl with antipyrine (Ant):UCl4x2Ant; UBr4x2Ant; UClx4Ant; UCl2I2x6Ant; UI4x6Ant and diantipyrilmethane (Dam):UCl4x4Dam; UCl4x3.5Dam; UO2Cl2xDam; (DamH)2[UO2Cl4]; (DamH2)2xBr2[UO2Br4]. A higher complexing ability of diantipyrylmethane is pointed out. IR spectra for all the complexes synthesized, free ligands and their compounds with acids are obtained. The measurements of static magnetic susceptibility within the range of 77-296 K have shown that the UX4x2Ant and UCl4x4Ant complexes as opposed to the UX4x4Dam and UX4x6Ant complexes, possess temperature independent paramagnetism, which is characteristic of only octahedral complexes of uranium(4) (M2UCl6, UX4x2L) (X=Cl,Br)
