Description

The crystal structure of metal pseudobrookite, Fe2TiO5, is determined from high-resolution electron microscopy images observed and their computer simulated images, with the aid of electron diffraction and X-ray powder diffraction. The new structure has a monoclinic unit, containing eight molecules, with a = 2.223, b = 0.373, c = 0.980 nm, and β = 116.20. The Fe, Ti, and O atoms occupy the positions (4c), +-(u, 0, w; 1/2 + u, 1/2, w), of C23(C2). The most probable parameters u and w, of Fe(1 to 4), Ti(1, 2), and O(1 to 10) are given. (author)
