Environmental assessment of reference reprocessing plant

This paper briefly discusses the position of the ICRP and other international bodies in setting basic standards for radiological protection and introduces the ALARA (As Low As is Reasonably Achievable) concept. It then goes on to review published information on the radiation exposure expected from the base case reprocessing plant under two categories ''occupational exposure'' and ''general public exposure''. Finally comments are made concerning exposure resulting from accidents and from decommissioning of reprocessing plants
