Topographic influences on the sedimentation at the dumpsite and NOAMP areas during the holocene
Description
Whereas the effects of topography are only weakly detected in the NEA Dumping area, they are very important in the NOAMP area. According to mineralogical, geochemical and 14C results, we can conclude that the sedimentation is strongly influenced by the geomorphology. Three different regional effects are typical of the NOAMP area: - Hills and slopes are affected by erosion. The resuspension process is selective and favors clays minerals. - Resuspended clays migrate to the N-S valleys where they are deposited. - A W-E central valley is influenced from time to time by sedimentary inputs from the Maury channel
