Concentration quenching of Eu2+ in Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor
Creators
Description
In Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor, a yellow-green emission peaking at 518 nm is observed, which is ascribed to the luminescent emission of the Eu2+ on the Ca2+ sites present in the lattice. The crystal structure of Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor is refined by Rietveld analysis. The concentration quenching process between Eu2+ ions is determined and the critical quenching concentration of Eu2+ in Ca2MgSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor is about 2.5%. The corresponding concentration quenching mechanism is verified as dipole-dipole interaction. The value of the critical transfer distance is calculated as 18 A which is in good agreement with the value (19 A) derived from the spectral experiment data
