Nuclear power plant
Description
The BWR type nuclear plant of the present invention removes radioactive nitrogen compounds in steams to be flown into a turbine system and reduces dose rate of radioactive nitrogen in the turbine system. That is, light sources emitting light to be absorbed to the nitrogen compound and nitrogen compound decomposition/removing devices are disposed at a plurality of places in a main steam pipe connected from the BWR type reactor to a turbine. Light emitted from the light source decomposes the radioactive nitrogen compounds. The nitrogen compound decomposition/removing device comprises a capturing material, such as metal beryllium, for capturing photolyzed radioactive nitrogen. Among radioactive nitrogen compound generated by nuclear reaction in the reactor, those compounds carried over due to their volatility are photolized into the form of 16N2 or 16NO2. With such a constitution, they are captured by the nitrogen capturing material. Accordingly, radioactive nitrogen is not contained in steams to be flown into the turbine system. As a result, operator's radiation exposure can be prevented. (I.S.)
