Description

A system of fast emergency switching-off of RF power of a linear accelerator is described. Its operation is based on switching off the klystron excitation power and keeping the high-voltage modulator operating mode. The system is realized and successfully operates in 20 RF supply channels of the Moscow meson factory linear accelerator. Propagation of RF break-downs in accelerating resonators and in waveguide channel elements is practically excluded due to protection fast response. Automatic recovery of the operating mode in case of single and rare breakdowns reduced substantially the accelerator idletime. 2 refs.; 1 fig
