State and development of nuclear energy utilization in the Federal Republic of Germany as of May 1994

The report states the essential data of all nuclear power plants, the facilities of the nuclear fuel cycle and the storage of radioactive wastes. In 1993, 20 nuclear power plants were in operation. With 153.525 GWh altogether they provided 34% of the total gross electricity production. The report summarizes the essential operational results of the nuclear power plants. A short description of the present state of the nuclear power plants that have been shut down or decommissioned and of the stopped programmes is given. Data on purpose and capacity of facilities of the nuclear fuel cycle and of radioactive waste storage are given. Furthermore, the licensing history and the present state of operation and licensing were represented. Three projects with regard to disposal of radioactive wastes are presented according to their present state. To give a survey, the data are summarized in tabular form in the report annexes. The report will be updatad and published twice a year. (orig.)

Abstract (German)

Im Bericht aufgefuehrt sind die wesentlichen Daten aller Kernkraftwerke, der Anlagen des Kernbrennstoffkreislaufs und der Lagerung radioaktiver Abfaelle. Im Jahr 1993 waren 20 Kernkraftwerke in Betrieb. Sie erbrachten mit einer Stromerzeugung von insgesamt 153525 GWh einen Anteil von 34% an der Gesamt-Brutto-Stromerzeugung. Der Bericht nennt in zusammengefasster Form die wesentlichen Betriebsergebnisse der Kernkraftweke. Zu den abgeschalteten bzw. stillgelegten Kernkraftwerken sowie den eingestellten Vorhaben wird eine Kurzbeschreibung des gegenwaertigen Status gegeben. Zu den Anlagen des Kernbrennstoffkreislaufs und der Lagerung radioaktiver Abfaelle werden Angaben zu Zweckbestimmung und Leistungsgroesse gemacht. Dargestellt werden weiterhin die Genehmigungshistorie und der momentane Betriebs- und Genehmigungszustand. Zur Endlagerung radioaktiver Abfaelle sind drei Projekte in ihrem derzeitigen Status dargestellt. Die Informationen sind in den Anhaengen des Berichts zu einer Uebersicht in Tabellenform zusammengefasst. Der Bericht wird halbjaehrlich in aktualisierter Form herausgegeben. (orig.)
