Description
The department of Radiology, Teikyo University, has been trying the information disclosure. From this report, we analyzed our treatment outcome. The department of Radiology, at Itabashi Hospital, Ichihara hospital and our affiliated hospital, Narita Red Cross Hospital treated 53 cases of Nasopharyngeal carcinoma. These patients were analyzed based on the revised Universal International Against Cancer (UICC) tumor, node, metastasis (TNM) classification (1997). The 5-year overall survival (OS) and the 5-year cause specific survival (CSS) of the whole group were 40.2% and 44.9% respectively. The 5-year CSS for stage I-II, III and IV were 77.8%, 68.2% and 14.0%. The 5-year CSS for T1, T2-3 and T4 were 68.8%, 59.3% and 16.4%. The 5-year CSS for N0,N1-2 and N3 were 73.3%, 41.3% and 0%. Our results of stage I-III, T1-3, and N0-2 shows almost the same compared to other reports. But the results of advanced cases (stage IV, T4 and N3) were lower. Intensive concomittent chemo-radiotherapy may be required to improve these poor prognosis group. (author)
