The development of regulation on aspect of radiation protection and safety in nuclear power plant design

Nuclear Power Plant design became a basis to conduct construction that will largely determine the safety of operation until the decommissioning process. Design approval should be submitted by the licensee of site before construction begins based on regulation. Document for submitting of design approval should include radiation protection and safety aspect based on BAPETEN Chairman Regulation. BAPETEN Chairman Regulation on radiation protection and safety aspect for nuclear power plant design is not in place. A literature review in order to support preparation and development of the regulation has been conducted. BAPETEN Chairman Regulation on radiation protection and safety aspect for nuclear power plant design should includes requirements of technical considerations as a basic to design, such as general radiation protection and safety, radiation protection to personnel in nuclear power plant site, radiation protection to member of public in the surrounding of installation, include consideration for radiation monitoring and standardization of auxiliary facilities. All of the required design consideration should also include operation and decommissioning needs, both in normal operation condition and in case of nuclear accident. (author)
