State and prospects of gas production in Ukraine

There are 288 noted oil, gas and gas condensate fields in Ukraine, 200 of them are under development. The exploitation extent of initial oil and gas resources in nearly 40%. Estimated gas potential of Ukraine is 6,4 x 1012 m3. In 1995 it was produced 18.2 x 109 m3 of gas, with the demand 80 x 109 m3. Ukraine territory, 3 oil and gas-bearing regions are perspective for future exploration, but Ukraine needs new equitable taxation and domestic and foreign investments. (au)
