Spectrophotometric determination of thorium with Arsenazo III in environmental samples

Description

A spectrophometric determination of thorium with Arsenazo III (1,8 dihidroxynaphtlaline - 3,6 sulfanic acid - 2,7 bis (azo-2) - phenil arzonic acid) was carried out aiming to analyse this elemet in environmental samples. In order to eliminate possible interferences, a coprecipitation with lantanium fluoride was used followed by an extraction with 0,2 M TTA (tenoil - trifluor-aceton)/Benzen. The results showed good agreement with the ones obtained by alfa-spectrometry. (Author)

Foi estudada a determinacao espectrofotometrica do torio com arsenazo III (1,8 dihidroxinaftaleno - 3,6 - acido sulfanico - 2,7 bis (azo-2) - acidofenil arzonico). De modo a isolar o torio de possiveis interferentes, foi empregada uma coprecitacao com LaF3 seguida de extracao com 0,2 M TTA (Tenoil-trifluor-acetona)/benzeno. O metodo estudadofoi empregado na determinacao de torio em amostras ambientais. Os resultados mostraram uma boa concordancia com aqueles obtidos por meio da espectrometria alfa, bem como com aqueles citados em amostras de referencia. (Autor)
