Peculiarities of electronic structure of transition metal oxides with metallic and semiconductive conductivity

  • 1. AN SSSR, Novosibirsk (USSR). Inst. Neorganicheskoj Khimii

Description

By the method of x-ray and x-ray electron spectroscopy electronic structure of rutile-like oxides with metal conductivity: RuO2, MoO2 and VO2, as well as V2O5 and MoO3, having rhombic structure and possessing semiconductor properties, has been studied. It is shown that valency band of oxides possessing metal conductivity has upper filled level, localozed on metal, and metal-ligand bond level lie mich deeper energetically. For semiconductor oxides metal-ligand bond levels become upper filled levels. d-Bands of metal, which are in the range of binding energy zero, are responsible for the conductivity
