Case report 545: Osteochondroma (osteocartilagenous exostosis) cervical spine with spinal cord compression

  • 1. Iwate Medical Univ., Morioka (Japan). Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery

Description

We treated a 62-year-old woman with a solitary osteochondroma of the cervical spine that caused spinal cord compression. Plain roentgenograms showed an abnormal intraspinal area of mineralization at C5. Metrizamide computed tomographic (CT) scans demonstrated a bony mass arising from the right lamina of C5 projecting into the spinal canal and compressing the spinal cord. The CT scans showed the extent of this tumor. (orig./GDG)
