Description
The Glauber amplitude for rotational excitation of molecules by electron scattering for the pure quadrupole anisotropic potential is set up. Explicit expressions are presented both for the Glauber amplitude which is reduced to a two-dimensional integral and for a series-expansion amplitude which is reduced to a single-dimensional integral. The selection rules for the Glauber amplitude are given and numerical examples of differential cross sections are presented for N2 targets
