European metrology network project for the medical use of ionizing radiation

The paper introduces the European research project 'Support for a European Metrology Network on the medical use of ionizing radiation' (19NET04 MIRA), whose goal is the preparation of a European metrology network (European Metrology Network, EMN) focused on the application of ionizing radiation in medicine. The aim of the network is to create a common point and ensure coordination at European level for doctors, metrologists, medical equipment manufacturers, academic experts, standardization bodies and other experts. The network will cover the entire radiotherapy process from the creation of treatment protocols through radiobiological studies and their implementation, radiodiagnostic procedures, the treatment itself, subsequent treatment, and finally the assessment of the risk of induced cancer.
