Ordering in cubic carbides and nitrides of group 4 and 5 transition metals

Generalized are the results of investigations on the phase constitution and the structure of cubic carbides and nitrides of transition metals of the 4-th and 5-th groups with due regard for the ordering of C and N atoms in these phases. It was shown that the ordered modifications of monocarbides are, as a rule, close in type to one another, but differ substantially from mononitrides. Based on this, a conclusion is drawn, that there are no continuous ranges of solid solutions among the considered modifications in the carbonitride systems, except for, as known to date, only the Ti C-N system
