Why supporting scientific research in the Slovak nuclear power sector is imperative

Arguments in favour of the development of scientific research in the nuclear power domain are presented. Slovakia, similarly to some other European countries, has invested enormous effort (human as well as financial) in nuclear techniques and engineering and so far has high expertise at different levels. The important task for future is preservation and improvement of nuclear knowledge and skills because the highest risk in nuclear is missing knowledge! The research and educational activities in the nuclear domain in Slovakia over the past 5 years are described in detail. (orig.)
