Structural properties of Bi-based superconducting compounds

  • 1. Academia Sinica, Beijing, BJ (China). Inst. of Physics

Description

The main structural properties of (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Can-1CunOy with n=1, 2 and 3 and Bi2Sr2YCu2Oy have been summarized. The modulated structures in Pb-doped and Y-doped Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O systems have been studied by electron diffraction and high resolution electron microscopy. Upon in-situ heating, as well as electron beam irradiation, the oxygen/vacancy ordering in all above systems have directly been observed by transmission electron microscopes. The defect structures in bi-based superconducting systems and the relation between Tc and the actual composition of 2212 single crystals have been presented. (author). 21 refs., 13 figs., 1 tab
