Can we get a smaller emittance in a DBA lattice with bypasses?

Description

In this paper it is shown that if the bending angle of each bending magnet in bypasses of a DBA lattice is chosen to be larger than that in the remaining normal part of the lattice, the emittance of the lattice with bypasses would be larger than that of the respective lattice without bypasses, and vice versa. An analytical expression for the emittance ratio of a DBA lattice is presented. The result was applied to the design study on the SPring-8 lattice with bypasses. (orig.)
