Scandium effect on high temperature ductility of Al-6.5 % Mg binary alloy
Creators
Description
Influence of 0.2-0.5 wt.% scandium on resistance to deformation and ductility in Al-6.5% Mg alloy at hot working temperature is investigated. It is shown that scandium does not affect a resistance to deformation but decreases rate dependence of plasticity, providing for alloy ductility improvement. Fractography data show that fracture in all scandium containing alloys has an intergranular character independent of strain rate, while a binary Al-6.5 % Mg alloy fractures in intergranular manner at strain rate increasing up to 1.3x10-1 s-1
