m-substrate distributions in the 16O + 12C reaction
Creators
Description
It has been demonstrated that in favorable cases, information on spin alignment produced in nuclear reactions can be extracted from line shapes of excited reaction products. This technique was applied to the study of resonances in the 16O + 12C reaction. The spin-alignment data taken at 22.3 MeV are shown. The results of fitting the data with various J values both with and without a background component yield J = 12 as the best fit. The angular distribution data and spin-alignment data cannot be simultaneously accounted for in the context of the single J resonance model. 2 figures
