Crystal structure of ytterbium(3) tris-acetylacetonate

Description
Crystal structure of unhydrous ytterbium (3) tris-acetylacetonate Yb(acac)3 is studied. Crystals are colourless, triclinic, space group P1-bar, a=7.925(1), b=8.189(1), c=13.692(1) A, α=89.760(6), β=73.410(6), γ=89.680(7) deg. Structure is interpreted by heavy atom method and refined by the least square fit in anizotropic approximation to R=0.031, RW=0.040. Structure consists of discrete molecules Yb(acac)3. Yb atom is chelated by three acac-ligands and has a slightly distorted trigonal-prismatic coordination. Bond lengths and valence angles are determined
